Thank you to Retired Police Chief Danny Garcia for inviting me to the North Texas Crime Commission Luncheon last week.  It was a privilege to meet a number of the leading Chiefs of Police and Sheriffs, along with their Federal partners that are working to keep us safe in North Texas.

At the Paratus Group, we call our brave Law Enforcement, Fire and EMT’s that serve our Communities here in North Texas the Emergency Responders.

Why Emergency Responders and not First Responders?

That starts with the distinction between the words Prevention and Responding.

Our Emergency Responders are more busy than at any time in the history of our country.  They Need Our Help!  Our communities are less safe, and the majority of their time is spent Responding…..someone calls the 911 dispatcher and the Emergency Responders go into action.  BUT, it takes them time to respond…..we call this the Response Window.

That means that during the time it takes for the Emergency Responders to arrive, WE, all of us, are the First Responders.  We need to be Prepared to take action and respond until the Emergency Responders arrive.

Law Enforcement Needs Our Help.

Prevention starts with me and you, with all of us, to keep ourselves, our families and our communities safe.  To be empowered to do this, you need to be Prepared to be able to Prevent bad things from happening.

When we do our part and support our brave Emergency Responders, that is how we make our communities safer.

Prevention comes in many forms - here are some examples of the threats we need to be aware of and prepared to prevent:

  • Community Crime Prevention

    • Robberies

    • Home Break Ins

    • Assault

    • Harassment

    • Carjacking/Theft

    • Human Trafficking

    • Vandalism

    • Anger/Divisiveness

    • Drugs

    • Cyber

  • Prevention - Keeping Our Kids Safe

    • Human Trafficking

    • Bullying

    • Suicide

    • Harassment

    • Assault

    • Depression

    • Sexortation

    • Car Accidents

    • Drugs

    • Cyber

  • Workplace Prevention

    • Bullying

    • Suicide

    • Sexual Harassment

    • Sexual Assault

    • Assault

    • Anger/Divisiveness

    • Accidents

    • Unethical Behavior

    • Cyber

Do you Practice a Process daily that Prepares you to be able to Prevent Bad Things from happening?  Are your kids/grandkids empowered with these skills?

Are you aware of the threats we face today?  You can’t Prevent them from happening if you believe that the World is a Safe Place and It Won’t Happen to Me or My Family.

You Can’t STOP bad things from happening if you are not PREPARED.

Education and Preparation is HOW we

Be Aware & Stay Safe.

PREPARE - PREVENT - PROTECT

We will not be able to keep our children safe if we continue down the path we have for the last 30 years, relying on our schools and teachers to be responsible for the safety of our children.  As PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS, we need to be ultimately responsible for the safety of our children.

Do you and your family have the necessary Situational Awareness Tools, Habits, Behaviors, Mindset and a Process to empower them to identify the indicators, the “Red Flags” before something happens to PREVENT it from happening?

Are you ready to invest in your safety and learn and develop the skills necessary to keep your teams, our children, schools and communities safe?

If you are, contact me at the Paratus Group!
